ASUU to Buhari: Probe breach of university statues and regulations at MOU, Umudike
By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to probe an alleged breach of university statues and regulations by the authorities of the Michael Okpara University, Umudike .
ASUU in a statement by its Ibadan Zone chapter after a Zonal meeting held at the University of Ibadan, urged President Buhari to set up a Visitation panel to investigate the alleged  breach of university statues and regulations.
The union in the statement signed by the Chairpersons in the Zone; Dr Oluseye Abiodun, UNISON; Prof Oyegoke Oyebamiji; LAUTECH, Dr Taino Oloruntoba Oju UNILORIN; Dr Dauda Adesola; KWASU, Prof Segun Ajiboye, UI, condemned the divide and rule policy and the alleged fraudulent activities of the Institution’s authorities.
While frowning at the alleged draconian administration of Prof Hillary Edeoga, Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University, Umudike, ASUU condemned the alleged reckless promotions of Staff without due process and in flagrant disregard of the extant rules of the University guiding appointments and promotions.
“The level of corruption in MOUAU is at highest level. Edeoga operates like an Emperor. The man must not be allowed to go scot free as his tenure expires February 2015.”
While calling for the probe of the tenure of the Vice Chancellor before the expiration of his tenure, ASUU alleged that “Edeoga is not acting alone but in collaboration with the Council Chairman; Prof Anya O. Anya who pretends as if nothing is happening because he has been compromised by the VC.”
