Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso has suspended their eight months old strike.
According to the Chairman ASUU LAUTECH chapter, Dr Biodun Olaniran, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the strike was suspended following a joint resolution by ASUU members in the University.
Dr Olaniran declared that ASUU members at a congress in  Ogbomoso on Tuesday unanimously agreed that the eight months old strike be suspended immediately.
“After comparing the demands of the union and what the management has met out of the demands, and after extensive deliberations on the struggle so far, the union has resolved to suspend the strike immediately,” he said.
New Nigerian reliably gathered that with the suspension of the strike by the ASUU members, academic activities may start in the University any moment from now.
The ASUU members embarked on indefinite strike in June 2016 over non payment of their salaries and allowances by owner states of Oyo and Osun as well as non release of subventions to the institution on time.
It will be recalled that Governor Abiola Ajimobi in January this year hinted that the University will be reopened before the end of this month (February) going by the efforts put in place by the owner states.
