President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday assured international and local human rights groups of appropriate response over the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the clashes between soldiers and members of the Shi’ite movement in Nigeria, led by Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
A statement by the Senior Specail Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu said “the President is studying the details of the report before announcing appropriate response in due course.”
The statement further stated that the President’s commitment to human rights remained unchanged because it was a cardinal component of the democratic order.
According to the statement, when the clashes occurred in December 2015, President Buhari had told the nation during the Presidential Media Chat that he was awaiting the outcome of the report of inquiry into the incident before making appropriate response.
The present administration, the statement said, believed in due process and the rule of law; adding that any response to the report would follow that principle.
The Federal Government will continue to act in the larger interest of the public to prevent such violent incidents, the statement said.

  1. Now that the pressure nationally and internationally is too much and you want to make someone a scapegoat you are talking of looking into the report of the JCI into the Army Massacre of the Shiites. I though you have already made your verdict.
