Army Colonel Found Dead In Ibadan… It Is A Case Of Suspected Murder – Police

Uneasy calm is now reigning at the Command Secondary school Ibadan following the killing of the school’s Commandant  Col. Anthony Okeyim by unknown assailants on Monday.
New Nigerian gathered that the dead body of the Commandant who was promoted three weeks ago and awaiting decoration with his new rank was found in his apartment within the school premises.
The Army Colonel was said to be allegedly strangled to death by suspected assassins after attacking him in front of his official quarter.
Contacted on the death of the Army Colonel, the Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO SP Adekunle Ajisebutu said he was found dead in front of his apartment around 6.30am on Monday.
“I can confirm to you that the deceased was found dead in front of his apartment around 6.30am on Monday. We are treating it as a case of suspected murder. The State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, visited the school immediately the case was reported,”he said.
The PPRO stressed that the police investigating team are presently  working with Military Police investigating team” while security has been beefed up around the area.
It was learnt that members of staff and students  of the Command school were shocked early Monday on finding the dead body of their school Commandant in his apartment within the school premises.
As at the time of sending this story, there were conflicting reports on the Army Colonel’s death with some people alleging that he was strangled to death while another unconfirmed report said his throat was slashed by hoodlums.
