The All Progressives Congress (APC) Reconciliation Facts Finding Committee set up by National Chairman of the party, John Odigie Oyegun has said it’s mission is not to cast judgment on who is wrong or right in the crisis rocking the party in Kaduna State.
Chairman of the committee, former governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Segun Oni, stated this on Sunday when he led members of the committee to the demolished office of a faction of the party led by Danladi Wada.
Oni, said that the mandate given to his committee is to meet with all aggrieved member and come up with a report to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, which will then become a working document for Senator Bola Tinubu’s reconciliation committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“As you are aware, President Buhari, had constituted a reconciliation committee to reconcile all aggrieved member of the party and you can agree with me that this is the kind of problem that Asiwaju is to solve.
“So, we will package the report and send it to the appropriate quarters, that is why we are here. We are not going to pass any judgment, we are on a fact finding mission. He explained.
Receiving the committee, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, who was already leaving the venue of the meeting he and the party’s leadership had waited for over five hours told them visitors that majority of their members has already left the place thinking the committee may not come to their party office.
He drew their attention to the fact that even though their factional leadership is the one recognised at the national party office, the NWC, did not deem it fit to invite their chairman, Danladi Wada to the party’s upcoming National Caucus Meeting slated for 27th February.
Hunkuyi, noted that for reconciliation to take place, NWC, should include their factional chairman among those to participate in the meeting.
Earlier, Senator Shehu Sani, after a long wait had address the press on behalf of the party, that committee told them they will be on ground by 11am, but that waiting for them for more than five hours, they have decided to close for the day and return to their various schedule for the day.
This Oni, explained later that on arrival, they had to first go to the Government House to visit the governor and other members of the other faction and also members of both the federal and state legislators to hear their side of the story.
The committee and the Wada, led faction later agreed to begin consultations with all their members who on ground later from 8pm and work through the night, while they will arrange a meeting with those who have already returned to Abuja on a special date.
