APC must win Kogi supplementary election to honour Audu~ Ajimobi.
By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan
Governor Abiola Ajimobi  has said the only way to keep the memory of the late All Progressives Congress candidate (APC) in the stalemated November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, Prince Audu Abubakar alive is for the people of the state to ensure that the party emerges the eventual winner of the election during the supplementary polls stipulated for December 5th.
The governor in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by the Office of Secretary to the State Government described the late two-term governor of Kogi state as a democrat and kindred spirit who always wanted the best for his people.
According to Governor Ajimobi, it was glaring that the people of Kogi State loved the late Audu Abubakar going by the outcome of the last Saturday governorship election in the state so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“To me, that is a sure way of keeping Prince Audu’s loving memory alive. That is how to ensure that the people of Kogi join the progressive train of President Muhammadu Buhari in order to benefit from the manifest dividends of democracy under the new dispensation,” he said.
Governor Ajimobi noted that “from the trend of the results announced from most voting centres by INEC before the stalemate, it is apparent that the people of Kogi State loved Audu so much that they wanted him and his party, the APC to form the next government in Kogi State”.
The governor added that  “notwithstanding the unfortunate death of the Prince, the people of the Confluence State must remain committed to his great vision and modernist plans for a greater Kogi State, in which the security, welfare and good life of all stakeholders are paramount.
“The palpably favourable response of stakeholders and voters to his governorship candidacy during last Saturday’s election is a testimonial to their love for him and his good works in the service of the people”.
While urging the people of the state to ensure that they latch on to the progressive train traveling across the nation by voting massively for the gubernatorial ticket of the APC whenever the INEC eventually decides on the supplementary elections, he prayed for the repose of his soul and wished the family, the state and the APC family the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss.
He recalled the Late Audu Abubakar’s many sterling achievements first during his 1991 stint and later during his second tour of duty in 1999, saying, some of his monumental projects included the setting up of the State University, the construction of housing estates across the state as well as the provision of health and other social amenities, for which citizens and stakeholders are continually thankful.
