Ondo state Frontliners Group, Oyo State chapter on Saturday endorsed Dr Segun Abraham as its  gubernatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the coming governorship election in the state.
The group in a statement issued at the end of an emergency meeting in Ibadan signed by its National President Prof. Adekaye Olomola asked delegates to the APC Ondo governorship congress to vote enmasse Dr. Abraham to emerge as the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state.
According to the group “unlike some of the other contestants that have jumped from one political party to the other, Segun Abraham has remained with the party from foundation”.
“The group’s endorsement of Segun Abraham is based on his antecedent as a successful international private investor, industrialist, philanthropist, truthful, and imbibed with the fear of God. It is such antecedents that are needed at this critical time to lead Ondo State back as a shining light among all other states in Nigeria,” it said.
The Ondo state Frontliners Group maintained that there is the need for the delegates to vote for Dr Abraham going by his “consistency, humane, collaborative and participatory principles which he has demonstrated over time, even before he was drafted to the governorship race”.
“We would like to remind the delegates that such political leaders that are unstable when pursuing their ambitions, always ended up as emperor when eventually they get the position. We cannot replace an emperor with another emperor because that will definitely spell doom for Ondo State” it said.
The group then advised the delegates “not to be threatened by the antics of some of the contestants that are sponsoring violence and crying foul after all their attempts to woo national party leaders failed”.
“The APC since the days of AD has been a formidable party in Ondo State, and those that joined the party in 2012 for opportunistic openings cannot claim to have made the party what it is today in Ondo state”.
