Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North-Central geo-political zone have made a passionate appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari, requesting more political appointments in the next level.
The Governors are passionately appealing to him to consider offering more higher measures of federal appointments to APC political stakeholders from the zone as reward for their huge electoral investments before and during the February 2019 General and Presidential polls.
According to them, this exceptionally considerate demands on the President, Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will act as positive motivational incentives to spur APC party faithful from the zone, in sustaining their loyalty, commitment and solidarity towards the ethos, ideals, values and norms of the party in good governance.
This is even as they said these motivational traits, will further spur APC party members in future democratic exercises that can make the party stronger, cohesive and collectively united at ward, local Government, State and Federal levels in line with the philosophy of the party.
The APC Executive Governors who spoke through their colleague, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Northern Governor’s Forum, expressed these views in Abuja at the weekend.
The APC Governors, whose position were unanimously endorsed by all elected representatives at both state and federal Assemblies, political appointees, National, State, Local Government and Ward Officers, alongside members of the party from the zone, such an institutional policy option by President Muhammadu Buhari, will also encourage party members to strive harder to maintain the hold the party presently enjoys nationwide, considering that these will help consolidate the fortunes of APC as a ruling party ahead of the 2023 polls.
The Governors used the instance of the one-day political interests-aggregation drive which took place at the Abuja Nicon Luxury Hotel, to re-affirm their collective loyalty, commitment and unflinching support to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Plans-On-Action for development administration of Nigeria.
The meeting which had the Executive Governors of Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi and Plateau, States, present alongside the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Vice Chairman North-Central and significant others, was emphatic on the need for more political appointment slots for the zone , as in the reckoning of the conveners, not everybody in the party will be nominated for ministerial positions, thanking the President for the expanded ministerial team which had been screened by the Senate.
While urging all those who won elections into various positions of the zonal party structures to see their different platforms of primary assignments as a call to national service, the Governors appealed to them not to indulge in behavioral conducts that will tarnish the corporate image of both the party and the present administration in the country.
