A Gubernatorial candidate under the defunct Action Congress (AC) in Bauchi state in 2007, Ahmed Shu’aibu has appealed to the NASS members representing Bauchi to join hands together to develop the state instead of the on-going media war between them and the state government.
According to him, the Bauchi NASS members should positively think of sponsoring bills and moving motions in their legislative chambers aimed at fast-tracking the development of the state.
Alhaji Ahmed Shu’aibu cited example with the abandoned Kafin Zaki dam which, he opined would transform agricultural development of the state and provide employment opportunities to thousands of citizens, among which areas the NASS members will beam their lights.
The Bauchi AC turned APC Chieftain while receiving a political pressure group, Ahmed Shu’aibu Consultative Forum, at his Bauchi residence Wednesday, said the NASS members should also think about re-planning the Bauchi township plan in conformity with global best practices of modern cities.
He also stressed the need for the Bauchi NASS members to delve into the water scarcity problem of Bauchi metropolis that defied successive past Administrations in the state, as well as create economic empowerment programs that could salvage the people, particularly the youth from the current economic doldrums bedeviling them.
Shu’aibu explained that Bauchi state was able to enjoy federal appointment under the Buhari-led administration, but regretted that despite these magnanimous opportunities by the President, nothing has yet started showering onto the people as democracy dividend.
He also expressed dismay that many taxable businessmen in the state and hundreds across the country are defiant of the much-needed collectable taxes for the government to fast-track development, describing such acts by wealthy persons in the society as highly detestable.
On politicians, especially elective office holders, the APC chieftain lamented that those category of people prefer to dole out cars, motor-cycles and even bicycles to their cronies leaving the electorate that voted them into such offices in abject poverty.
Alhaji Ahmed Shu’aibu therefore appealed to lawmakers at both state and national assemblies to enact laws that could trap wealthy individuals who defies taxation, but continued to load it over the toiling masses in the society.
The Chairman of the Ahmed Shu’aibu Consultative Forum, Alhaji Abdulhamid Mai Nasara had earlier commended Shu’aibu for his efforts in fostering APC at both state and national level, saying the party need the likes of him.
Alhaji Mai Nasara also counseled the one-time AC gubernatorial candidate to partake in elective office come 2019, particularly the Bauchi South senatorial district seat, stressing that the party is solidly behind those championing the cause of the down-trodden members of the society.
Mai Nasara pledged the group’s support and loyalty to Ahmed Shu’aibu, a.k.a ‘Raba Gardama’ for his penchant testation to democratic norms and values, and urged him to continue to remain resolute and focus ahead of the 2019 elections.
