APC can’t sack Kashamu from the Senate – PDP
By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Ogun state, Chief Bayo Dayo has said the All Progress Congress (APC) cannot sack Senator Buruji Kashamu from the Upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Chief Dayo stated this in Ibadan while speaking with journalists after the hearing of the appeal filed by the APC Senatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun was put off following the disbandment of the Appeal tribunal panel.
The PDP Chairman accused the ruling APC of “trying to turn the will of God upside down” by going around with the intention to manipulate their ways through some APC leaders in the state to thwart the election of Senator Kashamu.
Chief Dayo pointed out that the election of Senator Kashamu has come to stay as it was divinely ordained by God and as such any contrary plans against it would continue to fail, saying, “only God can remove Senator Kashamu and God stand by him because his election is the will of God”.
Chief Dayo lauded the President of the Court of Appeal and the National Judicial Council (NJC) for the step taken, describing it as “the judiciary trying to be fair to all parties concerned in the matter.
“What has happened here this morning is that, I think the judiciary is trying to be fair to all concerned and the way I see it, we discovered that, the thinking of the Lord is different from the thinking of some of our leaders in Nigeria and we have discovered that they (APC leaders) have been going around to manipulate all the arrangements that has been sealed by God. Today’s announcement is a victory for us”
Speaking, the APC candidate in the Senatorial election, Prince Dapo Abiodun said the dissolution of the panel was part of the efforts of the judiciary to be fair to all parties concerned, declaring his firm believe in the Nigerian judicial system.
“The media has been inundated with accusations and supposed petitions, so it is my opinion that maybe it is a reaction to that. If one party feels they will not get justice because of some accusations or the other and the judiciary in its wisdom decides to take that into consideration, we believe in the Nigerian judicial system, whatever the judiciary decides to do, we shall abide with it,” he said.
It would be recall that the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu had filed an appeal against the verdict of the Ogun State Elections Petition Tribunal, ordering the re-run of election in 91 out of 110 polling units in the senatorial district.
