APC accuses former Governor Akpabio of corruption

The South South zonal Vice Chairman of All Progress Congress (APC), Mr. Hilliard Ettah said the national Secretariat of the party has copies of documents which allegedly indicted the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio of corruption while serving as governor.
Ettah mentioned this while addressing the APC supporters who gathered for a Prayer Summit organized by the state chapter of the party in Uyo, the state capital.
The zonal vice chairman who represented the national chairman, Mr. John Odigie Oyegun told the enthusiastic party supporters that very soon Chief Akpabio, now a Senator representing Ikot Ekpene senatorial district of the state at the Senate would be arrested by the anti-craft agents for prosecution accordingly.
“On behalf of the national chairman of our great party in Abuja, I bring you this message of felicitation from the national secretariat of our party that the secretariat is aware of this event you are holding now to pray for the state ; Akwa Ibom state, yourselves as the people of the state, our party nationally and the leader of our great party, President Muhammadu Buhari seeking for God’s divine favour. I want to also assure you that the national secretariat is happy with you and is in support of what you are doing here which shows that all of you appreciate the policy direction of our great party which is all about positive change.
“I want to also tell you that in the past you have been afraid of Godswill Akpabio because he was the governor and government at national level was PDP controlled, now you can see, it is no longer PDP but our party – APC with President Buhari as Commander-in-Chief, therefore you have no cause to fear again. With God on our sides, our governorship candidate Obong Umana Okon will be the governor of this state. What we await is the Supreme Court verdict which we are sure would be on our sides because facts are real and cogent enough for the court to decide.
“Akpabio, we are aware looted the state treasury…., documents to this effect are with the national secretariat of our party in Abuja. I want to assure you that very, very soon he will be arrested and tried accordingly to recover the looted funds. Our party ideology frowns against corruption and anyone past or present found corrupt will be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others, this I can assure you, President Buhari will do”, Mr. Ettah stated.
Ettah who also advised the APC faithful in the state not to be intimidated by any antic of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as they go about with the activities of the party, urged them to report to the national secretariat of the party, any security agent found going contrary to the professional ethnics of the force and do the biddings of PDP. “I am assuring you that such officer if found guilty would be shown the way of the command he or she serves” he said.
The APC flag bearer in the state, Obong Umanah Okon Umanah advised the party supporters to continue to be law abiding citizens because peace is sacrosanct for any good thing to be achieved anywhere in the world.
He said that although APC in the state had been under captivity of the PDP for many years, but now God has turned their captivity into joy. This is by way of freedom, an indication that what God has started He would surely perfect them in the lives of the people of Akwa Ibom state.
Obong Umanah who noted God as the salvation of his soul and rock of his strength said that he would not be moved by whatsoever distraction but would remain resolute in the struggle to emancipate the people of the state from the reign of PDP whom he added had not led the state well in the past eight years inspite of the huge allocations the state received from the derivation accounts monthly.
He thanked the party for the support to his vision to rewrite the history of the state through effective and purposeful governance if given the opportunity to do so. “With God whom grace and power that I will become your governor, I will not let you or our state down. Your support to ensure the actualization of this dream is what I need. ….I have a high regard to our judiciary in dispensing justice without favour”, Obong Umana added.
Earlier, the state chairman of the party, Mr. Amadu Attai said the prayer meeting was organized for the party to thank God for the victory at the Appeal Court which recently annulled the April 11 governorship election in the state and called for a fresh poll.
According to Mr. Attai, the prayer summit was also made to enable the people of the state to pray against every demonic operation in the land that negate the growth of the state, while it was also meant to seek God’s favour regarding the struggle to grasp political power from PDP, with Obong Umana Okon Umana as the governorship ticket bearer in the state.
He described Obong Umana as an experienced leader whose wealth of experience in service of their party (APC) in the state believes will deliver the goods expected for a new Akwa Ibom state.
