Anti-malaria drugs, consumables for Bauchi Health Centres

A number of 205 Health Centres in Bauchi State have been supplied with anti-malarial drugs and other medical consumables to fight malaria, a killer disease tolling on the people
Executive secretary of Bauchi ‎State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Leprosy Tuberculosis and Malaria (BACATMA), Dr. Mansur Dada said Friday in Bauchi at the flag-off of the first phase of anti-Malaria drugs distribution.
Dr. Mansur Dada explained that the first phase for November and December, 2016 will be distributed to the 205 health centres across the twenty Local Government Areas of the state.
He disclosed that the drug distribution is a collaborative effort between the Federal Ministry of Health through its Department of Public Health, Bauchi State government and other partners to fight the menace of malaria in the state.
Dada revealed that the agency will distribute 355‎,937 ACT anti-Malaria combination, 28,560 doses of Sulphadoxine for Pre-natal prevention of malaria among pregnant women, 122,800 pieces of Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits, 2,456 packets of Hand Gloves and 203 pieces of Safety Boxes.
While emphasizing that the anti-malarial drugs will be given free to patients at all the health centers, Dada said to ensure transparency and avoid any act of sabotage, the agency has involved traditional rulers, community leaders, and the media to educate people about the anti-malarial drugs revolving scheme.
