Men of the Nigerian Army have been tasked to sustain their efforts at curbing security challenges confronting the nation particularly in the North Eastern part of the country.
The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun threw the challenge in his office in Abeokuta while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Army on a courtesy visit.
Amosun commended the Corps for restoring peace and tranquility to the North Eastern part of the country, saying that whatever happens to any region in the country would definitely affect the entire nation.
Amosun revealed that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of insecurity, as investors would not be attracted to a state that is bedeviled with insecurity.
He therefore charged the corps to step up their strategy in protecting the State from external aggression.
“We want more of your presence in Ogun State because our population is no more what it used to be, we have greatly increased and we also need an Army division of our own because we are ripe for it” Amosun requested.
Earlier in his speech, Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai who led the delegation appreciated the State Government for the cordial relationship that exists between them, promising that the corps would not renege on its responsibilities of protecting lives and property.
Buratai appreciated the Governor for the unalloyed support, saying his men would not relent in their efforts at checkmating internal and external aggressions as he called on members of the community to report any suspicious movement.
