Amosun charges stakeholders on prudent financial management

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has charged stakeholders in the state to demonstrate financial prudence to further aid effective implementation of government policies and programmes especially during the present economic recession.
Governor Amosun gave this charge at the opening if the treasury board meeting on 2017 budget held at Oba”s complex, okemosan, Abeokuta.
According to him, agencies of government must at this crucial time ensure value for all money spent just as enjoined  accounting officers to be thorough and pragmatic at ensuring that government deliver its promises to the people.
He also said that government should be a participatory process with all stakeholders taking their rightful place while people should have a say on issues that concerns them.
“The Treasury board meeting is a continuation of that process of transparency, accountability and probity. We must be thorough and pragmatic as we can to ensure that we deliver on our promises to the people”. Amosun said.
Earlier in her address, the state commissioner for budget and planning, Ms Adenrele Adesina noted that the 5- cardinal programmes still enjoys priority with 62.77% of the budget allocation from the proposed budget of N185.37bl which she said is 7.41% decrease when compaired with the 2016 budget.
She emphasised that revenue generating agencies must strive to achieve better in the coming year adding that the treasury board meeting is an important part of the budget process in order to know how resources would be allocated for various agencies.
“We must continue to pursue efficiency, laying foundation for the final thrust of the mission to rebuild ogun state, by being proactive, creative about where and why resources are allocated”.
