Amosun Assures Ogun Of More Developmental Projects

The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has assured the people that he would use his second term in office to provide more infrastructure and ensure human capital development.

          Governor Amosun gave the assurance at the 6th edition of UPLIFT programme organised for the aged to commemorate his 59th birthday  at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, reiterating that his administration would not relent at providing adequate security and conducive business environment for both local and foreign investors to thrive in the state.

           “My administration will continue to do more for the State. What we will do in terms of infrastructure and human development in the remaining two and half years will surpass all that we have done in the last six years’’, he affirmed.

          He said the role of senior citizens in the development of the nation could not be over emphasized, maintaining that they have used their youthful age to serve the nation positively and must in turn be appreciated and supported.

          The Governor added that his administration would continue to give more care and recognition to the aged. He referred to them as supportive ‘’father and mothers’’, saying that they have been supporting him in past six years with words of encouragement and prayers, especially during his birthday celebration.

          The wife of the Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunso Amosun,  noted that the programme was an annual event put together by her foundation to give succour to the aged, pointing out that 1000 beneficiaries had been catered for under the initiative since 2012.

          Mrs Amosun said the programme was in line with the Federal government’s welfare programmes for Nigerians, expressing the hope that the programme would  be sustained beyond the administration.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Peter Falola, an 89 years who hails from Ilugun in Abeokuta North Local Government Area and Mrs Magret Olorunjube  thanked the wife of the Governor for her gesture and  support for the aged people in the state through her Uplift programme.
