Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba on Saturday emerged the party Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.
Ogar emerged chairman through a consensus voice vote by party stakeholders as he went into the race unopposed.
In attendance to observe the conduct of the congress, was a 7-man state Congress Committee including Alhaji Abubakar Malami and Barrister Emilia Okonji as Chairman and Secretary respectively.
The new state APC Chairman, while thanking Governor Ayade who is the leader of the party in both the state and the South South Region, elders of the party for the confidence reposed on him, however promised not to betray the trust, even as he called on members to support him so that the party can retain power in the state come 2023.
The Congress which witnessed delegates from the 18 local government areas, also had party chieftains from the three senatorial zones, comprising Minister of State for Power, Jeddy Agba, former Senate Leader, Senator Ndoma Egba, former Minister of Niger Delta, Pastor Usani Usani Uguru, Senator John Owan Enoh, member representing Abi-Yakurr Federal Constituency, Hon. Alex Egbona, Hon Legor Idagbo, Mike Etaba, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Eteng Jones Williams.
Addressing party faithful, stakeholders after emerging party chairman, Eba thanked the delegates and the party for the opportunity given to him to serve as Chairman.
