Alleged Adultery: Court To Deliver Judgment Today

The Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Chediya GRA Zaria has fixed today  February 16 to deliver judgment against four suspects who allegedly lured  a lady seeking support from Zazzau Emir into alleged adultery.  

The five men, including a dismissed palace guard, appeared before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Zaria, Kaduna State, over alleged adultery and criminal conspiracy on January 11.

The offences contravene Sections 59 and 368 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.

The defendants are Ismaila Abubakar, Hussaini Abubakar, Kabiru Shuaibu, Nafiu Kabiru and Ibrahim Abdullahi.

 At the resumed hearing of the case, Mohammed Rabiu, counsel for the second, third and fourth defendants opened the defence by calling the accused persons as defence witnesses.

Testifying as defence witness number one, Hussain Abdulkadir, told the court that he is a car mechanic and he was arrested by the police after closing from work on January 11.

He was taken to Zaria City Divisional Police Headquarters alongside Kabiru Shuaibu (the third defendant).

He added that it was at the divisional police headquarters that he saw an Islamic cleric and a lady and he was told of the offence allegedly committed by him.

He denied the allegations against him and was subsequently arraigned in court.

Under cross examination by the prosecution counsel, Inspector Manir Nasir, the witness denied making any statement at the police station.

Similarly, the third defendant, Kabir Shuaibu and the fourth defendant (Nafiu Kabiru) testified as defence witnesses number two and three respectively.

They all denied making statements at the police station and denied the allegations against them. 

Therefore, Rabiu counsel for the defendants closed the defence. 

The prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Mannir Nasir applied for a short adjournment for a judgement. 

In his ruling, Mr Abubakar Lamido the presiding magistrate adjourned the matter until February 16 for judgment.
