The Chairman, Management, players, and staff of Akwa United Football Club of Uyo have congratulated Pastor Umo Bassey Eno on his assumption of office as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Pastor Umo Eno was sworn into office on Monday, May 29, at a colourful inauguration ceremony at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, the 2021 champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Elder Paul Bassey on behalf of the club, described Governor Eno as a dedicated, purposeful, result-oriented, and visionary leader.
A statement on Wednesday, signed by media manager of the club, Mr Mfon Patrick made available to New Nigerian stated that Pastor Eno has capacity to build on the foundations laid by his predecessors in developing and making Akwa Ibom State a safe haven for its people and a destination of choice for investors,
“We are indeed blessed to have a man like Pastor Umo Eno as our governor. With his track record as a servant of God and a successful entrepreneur who has established himself and impacted the lives of many within and outside the state, we are confident that our dear state will witness massive human capacity, and sports development, as well as an infrastructural renaissance.
“It is true that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. While the task ahead seems enormous, we pray God Almighty guides and directs you to choose people with the right passion for the job who will share your dreams and interpret your wonderful vision for our dear state.
“We at Akwa United Football Club are committed to working with and supporting your administration by ensuring we do our best to keep winning trophies and bringing glory and honour to our dear state in line with your administration’s Arise agenda.
“The outgoing government under the supervision of Sir Monday Ebong Uko as Commissioner developed credible sports infrastructure needed to expose and nurture the abundant sports talents scattered all over the state.
“Your predecessors in office have laid solid foundations during their time and we encourage you and trust that with your capacity, you will build lasting legacies on those foundations in discovering and nurturing sports talents in our youths and for the generations yet unborn.
“We in the sports community are particularly happy that your deputy Senator Akon Eyakenyi in addition to her many experiences served as Supervisor for Education, Youth and Sports.
“Your Excellency let me on behalf of Akwa United, Nigeria’s most successful football club in the last eight years congratulate you and your Deputy Senator Akon Eyakenyi and gladly wish you a successful tenure in office, once again, Congratulations!”. The statement stated.
