Luck ran out of a notorious killer in Akwa Ibom State, Ubong Effiong Archibong (M) alias condiment, during his gang’s gun battle with the police from the state command at their hideout in Cross River State yesterday.
A statement by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Timfon John, said that Ubong was the dreaded kidnap kingpin/sea pirate whose stock in trade was to kidnap, kill, maim and cause havoc in societies.
Ubong, according to police, is a gang leader of Bling Bling Marine Strike Force that has been terrorizing Uruan/Oron Water ways as well as responsible for kidnapping of a High Court Judge, Justice Joy Unwana and the killing of her Police orderly, Inspector ThankGod Edet.
He was also involved in the murder of the CEO Emem & Sons Nig. Ltd, Mr Sylvanus Ukpong and kidnapping of his sales representative.
The suspect, was also responsible for the kidnap of Pharmacist Joemel as well as also responsible for the kidnap of Mr. Brown, CEO Mingles Hotel.
“The Suspect, Ubong Effiong Archibong (M) alias condiment, a gang leader of bling bling marine strike force terrorizing Uruan/Oron Water Ways, was neutralized during a gun battle with operatives of the Command in his hideout at Uyanga Community in Cross River State.
“One G3 riffle with four live ammunition were recovered from the suspect. The corpse of the suspect was recovered and deposited at the morgue. Investigations with full intent to arrest other members of the gang are ongoing” PPRO John stated in the release.
The Police Command has reassured Akwa Ibom people of its determination to constantly make Akwa Ibom a safe and secured place for business to thrive.
It has also called on Akwa Ibom people to report all suspicious movements to the Police with a promise that the Police is determined to serve with all amount of professionalism.
Recalled that the CEO of Emem & Sons Nig. Ltd. Mr Sylvanus, who is a senior brother to Mr Cletus Ukpong, a journalist with Premium Times was murdered closed to his farm along Oron Road in Uyo early this year by this notorious Killer who also kidnapped his staff.
The sad incident of late Slyvanus Ukpong which left his family in pains, occured just as Justice Joy Unwana was kidnapped while her Police orderly Inspector ThankGod Edet, gruesomely killed by the Ubong led gangmen.
