Ake Palace Mayhem: Two bag one year imprisonment For Illegal Possession Of Firearms

A Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta has sentenced one Adewale Ogundele and Ibrahim Amoje to one year imprisonment without any option of fine.
The two accomplices who were apprehended on the 16th of October, 2021 by men of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police after they were arrested for the role they played at disrupting the peace of the state at an illegal political gathering not recognized by the national  secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the Ake Palace ground.
Both convicts were found guilty of illegally possessing firearms in the state
It would be recalled that loyalists of Governor Dapo Abiodun had gathered to conduct the state congress of the party at the national secretariat designated MKO Abiola International Stadium, which had in attendance the national committee of the party as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission, while a faction led by the immediate past governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, held a parallel congress at the Ake Palace.
Delivering judgement in a suit number MA/381C/2021 on 28th January 2022, (Mrs) O. O Adebo after having been satisfied with evidence before her sentenced the duo to one year imprisonment without any option of fine.
“Those two were charged with unlawful possession of fire arms, so, the trial processed in court, we had three witnesses and at the end of the day, they were found guilty of having in their possession firearms without license.
Accordingly, they were sentenced to one year imprisonment without any option of fine.
