Ajimobi’s govt on holiday since May – Labour Party

Ajimobi’s govt on holiday since May – Labour Party.
By; BAYO AKAMO, Ibadan.
The Labour Party (LP) weekend Ibadan declared that the Governor Abiola Ajimobi led government in Oyo State has been on holiday since assuming office on May 29, 2015.
Labour Party stated this in a communiqué issued and made available to journalists in Ibadan at the end of its state Executive Council meeting and signed by its Director of Media and Publicity Taiwo Ibrahim.
According to the Party, governance in Oyo State since the second coming of Sen. Abiola Ajimobi was  “like a knocked engine, unmoved and immovable requiring total overhauling.
“The meeting which was presided over by the State Chairman, Gbenga Olayemi after deliberations came up with the following resolutions: The Party viewed governance in Oyo State since the second coming of Sen. Abiola Ajimobi as one like a knocked engine, unmoved and immovable requiring total overhauling. The government, the party noted, for the five months has been on holiday as there is no single concrete policy decision to move the State forward,” it said.
The party stressed that “the only notable thing about the government has been heaps of garbage, decayed infrastructure and the globetrotting of the helmsman which he has embarked upon nothing less than ten times in the last five months at the expense of the lean resources of the state.
“At a time when the State would go cap in hand for a bail-out fund from the Federal Government to offset backlog of salaries for teachers, civil servants and pensioners and as at today, three-months salary arrears are being owed workers, it beats ones’ imagination that the limited resources available is being squandered on the governor’s overseas personal and family engagements”
On the election tribunal sitting in the state, the party added, “the Executive in Council also deliberated on the Election petition Tribunal Judgment as it affects one of its members in the Oyo State House of Assembly. Hon Gbenga Oyekola of Atiba State Constituency.
“The party was particularly uncomfortable with the outcome of the tribunal judgment as it was the only one among the huge of petitions before the tribunal returned negative against the winner”.
It noted that “given the strategic position of the constituency in the State vis-avis its socio-cultural background, the party was not left in doubt that the judgment was political.
“And given the political and the material situation of the election in the state, which has been confirmed in all other petitions, the Labour Party is convinced that Hon. Genga Oyekola’s mandate will be returned by the Appeal Tribunal which will right the wrong of the Lower Tribunal.
While expressing satisfaction at the performance of the LP members in the State House of Assembly, the party urged them to remain steadfast, focused and proactive in monitoring the APC government performance with a view to making it serve the interest of the populace – the workers, artisans, pensioners, market men and women, students and the masses in general”.
The Party emphasized that “it is now fully re-positioned to serve as the major opposition party in order to assist the APC led government in the State to be doing the right thing for the people of the State”.
