A’Ibom Govt Approves N14bn Recapitalisation For Ibom Air

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the recapitalisation of its  airline, Ibom Air to the tune of 14 billion Naira, in effort meant to raise and strengthen its capital base and ensure more service delivery and gain. 

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong disclosed this to journalists on Saturday after the State Executive Council (Exco) meeting presided over by Governor Udom Emmanuel on Friday in Uyo, the state capital.

According to Comrade Ememobong, the Exco also approved for “the execution of emergency works at the gully erosion sites in Cornelia Connelly College in Uyo as well as granted approval for the  revitalisation of Akwa Ibom Water Company limited.

Other life touching projects that earned the approval of the council were, “approval for funds to implement the Akwa Ibom State Social Investment and Poverty Alleviation Programme to ameliorate the cost of living crises and to support young entrepreneurs, in line with the 2023 Appropriation Law of the state.

“Approval for the payment of compensation for the acquisition of the site for Ibom Solutions Hub in Mbo Local Government Area 

“Approved the Re-award of the contract for the construction of 8.5km Okoroette-Elile-Amadaka -Kampa road in Eastern Obolo local government area. The contract previously awarded to Nigerpet structures limited was revoked and is now awarded to Hensek Integrated Services. Hon. Commissioner for Works was tasked to ensure the speedy and qualitative delivery of the project.

“Approved the award of 7.5 Km Ekim-Eyoabasi and Edikor-Udu-Okobo road in Udung Uko , Mbo and Oron Local Government Areas and the award of contract for construction of 5.5KM internal roads in Itu Local Government Area”. Ememobong stated 

About the newly licensed Ibom Utilities Company Limited, and based on the progress report presented by the Commissioner for Power and Petroleum Development, Dr. John James Etim, Council reassured that when fully operational, the Utilities Company would become the catalyst for the achievement of the power for all drive of the state government.

The Commissioner equally stated that the governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel who bemoaned the current economic situation in the country and its attendant impact on the people of the state, has sued for peace and understanding from the citizens as steps were being taken to ease the situation soon.
