The National Chairman of the National Action Council (NAC) and the Owa’Tapa of Itapa Ijesa,Dr Olapade Agoro yesterday lauded Governor Rauf Aregbesola for renaming Osun state owned University after Late Chief Bola Ige.
Dr Agoro in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan declared that the renaming of the University was one of the best decisions taken by Governor Aregbesola.
According to the former Presidential candidate of the NAC, the renaming of UniOsun to Bola Ige University “must be seen as an honour done to Bola Ige far beyond sentimental political colouration and shortsighted irrelevancies of the fools”.
“That Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, Governor of Osun State clemently thought it wise, proper, timely and fit re-naming UNIOSUN after Bola Ige to bring into perpetual remembrance the good name of the great Cicero of Esa Oke, the man of letters with phonetically tongue twisting command, was more of an honour done to meritocracy and indeed a paying back to those who had labuored hard to make life worth living for all,” he said.
Dr Agoro pointed out that the renaming of the Institution after the late former Attorney General of the Federation “is an highly encouraging call out to duty to those men and women with the minds of doing good to humanity with promise carriage that even if they untimely fall down to death on the way to the goal post, somebody sensible and wise, somewhere, one day will wake up to do their memories a well deserved honour”.
“What is in a name at a time when Nigeria stinks to the sky of odium of corruption by those entrusted with power. When present day Nigerian men and women are so shameless and evil, carrying no pride and honor to their fathers’ names. Notably of all men, so arrogant in truth, principle and discipline upholding, honour and industry cherishing, colourful God fearing character, James Ajibola Idowu Adegoke Ige killed and murdered by heartless animals in human skin on December 23rd, 2001 was one name worth mentioning and reverencing among the greats of our time”.
He stressed that “with this wonderful honour done, let it be known by all good men and women that Bola Ige is alive and shall remain alive till eternity”.
