Tears of sorrow are flowing in Southern Kaduna as no fewer than 31 persons are suspected to have been killed after an attack on Kizakoro District in Chawai Chiefdom on Sunday evening, with 46 houses razed down.
Unconfirmed reports have it that four villages were affected in the attack, with Ungwan Magaji recording the highest death toll of 17 victims.
Kigam was said to be the second worst hit with 11 victims, while Ungwan Rimi and Kitakum were said to have recorded two and one deaths respectively.
Reports also claimed that in Kigam, no single house was left standing without being razed to the ground.
When the PPRO Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Aliyu Usman was contacted, he confirmed the incident, but could not confirm the death toll as he said that the Police was still taking stock.
He however appealed for calm, assuring that the Police was ensuring total normalcy returns to the area.
This development is coming days after a peace pact brokered by the GOC 1 Division Nigerian Army was signed by the locals and Fulani herdsmen.
