Former Edo State Commissioner of Sports Brown Ebewele, A.K.A Jujuman has predicted his being in the next board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
Ebewele, who was a one-time Technical Director of the AFN during the tenure of Prince Tony Urhobo, said he is praying that the next board be made up of credible and committed stakeholders.
According to the Edo born sports administrator, the outgoing board led by Chief Solomon Ogba has proved a great failure.
“And it’s time we rid the AFN of pretenders and those who deceived us that they were going to get sponsors but ended up doing nothing.
“It’s time we involve technocrats and I’m tested and trusted. The records of our board and my achievements as an athlete, coach and technical director are there for everyone to see,” said Jujuman, who lamented the inactivity of Nigerian athletes through lack of vision by the Ogba led AFN.
With electoral guidelines released officially Wednesday in Abuja, Ebewele revealed that he and some trustworthy ex-athletics stars have been strategising on how to install a board that would ensure that quality athletes are discovered and nurtured towards doing Nigeria proud at the international level as it were about a decade ago.
