Adamawa Police Seeks FG’s Intervention Over Non Payment Of Salaries

Policemen in Adamawa stayte who collect their monthly salary from Nigerian Police Force Micro Finance Bank, on Tuesday appealed to the Federal Government to come to their rescue as their families are dying in hunger due to nonpayment  of two  month salaries.
The policemen swamped the premises of the bank demanding immediate payment of their salaries or risk embarking on strike.
According to them, November and December salaries have not been paid and no tangible  explanation was offered to them, while their counterparts from other banks have been  collecting their salaries as at when due.
When contacted on the matter, the Police Public Relation Officer SP
Othman Abubakar, declined comment, saying he is not competent to speak on financial matter.
The Branch Manager, NPF Micro Finance Bank,Haruna Yusuf while reacting on the allegation said the problem is in Abuja at the Force
Headquarters.
He maintained that the police authority has not remitted the funds
meant for the payment of the salaries of the affected policemen to the bank.
Yusuf disclosed that the police command in the state informed him,
that the funds is with the budget office force headquarters Abuja,
awaiting approval.
” I am just from the state police headquarters Yola, where I was told
that the funds meant for payment of the affected policemen is still
with the Budget office of police headquarters, adding, as soon as the funds is made available to the bank, the affected policemen would start getting their alert”, the bank manger stated.
Investigations by New Nigeria revealed that, Policemen men in large number were attracted to the NPF Micro Finance Bank, because of it’s low interest rate on credit facilities.
