After five days of explosive action, Hong Ward has emerged the winners of the fourth edition, Engineer Musa Nimrod U-20 Inter Ward Championship for Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Hong Ward beat hard fighting opponents, Bangshika 1-0 to emerge winners.
The explosive encounter on Thursday, was watched by several dignitaries, including the National Organising Secretary of the Youth Sports Organisation of Nigeria (YSFON), Malam AbdulRazaq Usman.
In the third place match, Mayolope Ward and Daksiri played a 1-1 draw after regulation time, with Daksiri stealing the show from resultant spot kicks, which ended 4-5 in the entertaining and highly competitive encounter.
Earlier in the semi final matches played on Wednesday, Mayolope lost 1-3 to Bangshika via penalties after a 0-0 draw at regulation time.
In the second semi-final match, Hong Ward pipped Daksiri 1-0 to book a final place.
The final and third place matches were played on Thursday January 19, 2023 at the old Campus of the College of Education Field, Hong.
In an interview with our correspondent via phone, Malam AbdulRazaq Usman commended the sponsor, Engineer Nimrod, who is also the president of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).
“If we have just five people like Engineer Nimrod in Nigeria, insecurity would have been reduced to its barest minimum.
” Such competitions like this, keep idle youth busy and positively engaged, which is a good development,” he said.
The championship was organised in collaboration with Adamawa State YSFON.
