Abdullahi wins IMB NUPENG Kaduna elections

Comrade Hussaini Abdullahi with 341 votes has emerged Chairman of the Independent Markerters (IMB) Branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Kaduna State, in the polls held at the Command Guest House, Kaduna.
 
The keenly contested election saw his closest rival, Comrade Jubrin Abubakar poll 273 votes, while Comrade Rabiu Abba Abdul trailed with 191 votes.
 
For the Vice Chairman position, Comrade Daniel Mba Joseph was the most popular, as he garnered 380 votes. Runner-up was Comrade Musa Adedio with 250 votes, leaving Comrade Suleiman Yusuf with 187 votes.
 
Comrade Mohammed Kabir Magaji secured  519 votes, trouncing his opponent Comrade Abbas Ibrahim who polled 257 in the Secretary contest.
In a close race,  Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi got only six votes more than his opponent Comrade Aminu Idris Kurfi to win the position of the treasurer, with polls ending 292, 286, respectively, leaving Comrade Ibrahim Bala  Ibrahim with the remaining 131 votes.
 
Comrade Ali Sa’ad   who polled 214 beat his opponents Elvis Ede (112), Ibrahim Mohammed Mustapha (108), Abdullahi Abubakar (100) and Hakilu Umar (195) to emerge Financial Secretary.
Bilyaminu B. Muhammad got 294 votes, beating Abdul-Hadi Wowo and Seth A. Martins who garnered 269 and 163 votes respectively.
 
The position of PRO was an easy sail for Adamu Saleh who faced no opponent, while Stella Musa enjoyed same to emerge Welfare Female.
 
For the position of the Chief Whip, Umar Aminu got 311 votes to beat Lawal Idris who had 202.
In his speech shortly after he was declared winner and sworn-in, the new IMB NUPENG Kaduna State Chairman Hussaini Abdullahi, assured all members of the union that they would be carried along equally.
 
He said during his tenure, they would be one family without any religious or ethnic favouritism.
 
“I call on all of us who contested and did not emerge today, to see it as an act of God and join hands with us in moving our association forward,” he said.
 
He assured them that the union will ensure that all its members interests and assets are adequately secured within and outside the premises of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC).
 
The election was supervised by national and state executives of NUPENG and state executives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
