*Many dump vehicles, trek with kids to school

Following the resumption of primary and secondary schools in Ebonyi State on Thursday, many parents have lamented the high cost of living and challenges of training children in school, calling for government’s urgent intervention to rescue the situation.
As a result of this, many parents were seen bringing their children to school for the new academic session ,but it was observed that few came with their cars, while many were seen trekking with their children; a greater number with motorcycles and tricycles.
In a visit to Presbyterian Montessori Day Care/Nursery and Primary School, Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, many school children including their parents were trooping into the school for the new academic session.
In an interview with some of the parents, Mrs. Orji Uzor Aso Orji, said it has not been easy for them as parents, but they don’t have any option than taking their children to school, calling for government’s urgent intervention over this economic hardship.
`Well, it has not been easy all this while. We have to bring our children back to school, we don’t have a choice, it is our responsibility as parents. If we do not bring them back, they will be crying.What is facing us as challenges is getting their school materials, school fees and the cost of fuel is not encouraging;some times when you come with a car, you leave it in your children’s school and trekk to your office.But in the midst of all these things,God has been faithful.
`Government should look into this issue,it is not easy for us and make food commodities to be affordable.
Others like Ignetus Nwinyimagu, Obinna, among others said: ` the challenges before me is numerous,I don’t know which one to do and the one to leave.Yesterday,I bought fuel #1,200 while others are selling above this price; tell me how many litres that will sustain me for a week.I want Government to interven,its not a joke.
Responding, the headmistress of the school,Elder Elizabeth Ude expressed satisfaction with the level of turnout of students, saying that many parents brought their children.She however,noted that the economic challenges of the country is affecting virtually every thing, saying that its very difficult for people to survive.“I am appealing to our President to reduce the cost of oil price because some of our students are no longer coming because of cost of transportation.
