Ezeship Stool: Ebonyi Govt Set To Reconcile Aggrieved Parties

Following the rising tension over Ezeship Stool, Ebonyi State Government has waded into the lingering election Impasse in Oshiri community with the aim of reconciling all aggrieved members of the community and bring lasting peace and unity among the community members.

The commissioner for Border peace and conflict Resolution Dr. Donatus Chukwuma Ilang drop the hint while addressing the stakeholders, Ozos, contestants to the throne, leadership of the Community, Electoral committee members and concerned citizen of the community recently in his office at Abakaliki.

Dr. Ilang emphasized that no development can take place in atmosphere of rancour, litigations and Crisis and therefore charged the aggrieved parties to withdraw all the pending suits in court to pave way for peaceful resolution of the Ezehip tussle.

He noted that his office intervened in the Ezeshio tussle following a report of alleged malpractices during the selection and the Ezeship election.

The commissioner in a bid to ensure enduring peace in the community charged the member representing Onicha East constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon Ifeanyi ogba to convene an enlarged meeting of stakeholders and members of the community that will entails forgiveness, justice and reconciliation and revert to his office within two weeks.

Earlier in their separate submissions, the member representing onicha East State constituency, Hon Ifeanyi Ogba, some stakeholders, Barr Paul Ngwee, Pascal Okoro and some contestants to the throne chief Harrison Njoku, Chief Benedict Njoku and chief obasi Nweze among others alleged that the election held in March was inconclusive.

On their part, the chairman of the electoral committee, Chief Chika Eze, a stakeholder, Raymond Nkwegu and a declared winner of the election, Chief Samuel Opuh said that the Ezeship election of Oshiri community was free and fair, devoid of crisis and that the immediate past local Government chairman Hon Chidebere UZOH supervised the exercise.

In their vote of thanks the town Union president of the community Hon Okike Sunday and a stakeholder, Chief John Igboke expressed gratitude and thanks to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for setting up the process of reconciliation.

They equally thanked the Commissioner for prompt intervention in the Ezeship tussle. They promised on behalf of the community to continue to support the policy and programs of the state
