The maiden edition of the Annual Summit of Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) will take place on Thursday October 17, 2024 at Raddison Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The theme of the event is “Intermodal Transport: Challenges, Prospects.”

Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, will declare the Summit opened, while former Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, will deliver keynote address on the occasion.

A news statement that emanated from the Secretariat of TCAN pointed out that the transport sector summit will bring together major stakeholders in the transport industry as well as regulators who will brainstorm on issues that are germane to the sector.

“The focus on intermodal transportation in the maiden edition of the annual summit is deliberate. It is aimed at bringing together relevant stakeholders across all subsectors of the transport industry to see the need to form and work in synergy with one another, rather than working in silos and at cross-purposes, which might pose greater challenge to achieving the dream of giving alternative travel modes to the Nigerian public,” TCAN explained in the statement jointly signed and released on Monday by its Chairman, Yinka Aderibigbe, and Rasheed Bisiriyu, Chairman of the Summit Organizing Committee.

The Association said that such arrangement will pave way for greater efficiency through lower costs, operational flexibility and reduced carbon emission in a world committed to cleaner environmental impact that will ultimately benefit all.

A panel of discussants featuring members of the intelligentsia, heads of prominent agencies and other organizations will speak on the sub-themes of the summit. The sub-themes will focus on railway, road, inland waterways and aviation sub-sectors, the transport journalists said.

“An industry journal produced by TCAN would be formally unveiled as one of the highpoints of the event,” the summit organizers disclosed.
