Katsîna Govt Flags Off 2024 Tree Planting

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has launched Year 2024 Tree Planting Campaign organized by the state Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi arid Land Scape (ACReSEL) project in collaboration with Ahmed Usman Pure Life Foundation in Daura.

The tree planting held at Kangiwa Square and School of Health Technology both in Daura, Governor Umaru Radda in an address said ten thousand tree (10,300) seedlings would be planted state wide out of which three thousand (3,000) would be planted in Daura.

Governor Radda said one thousand primary school pupils were selected to receive one tree seedling each, with five thousand Naira as an up keep support to nuture them to maturity from planting.

Governor Radda said the annual tree planting is part of measures to address the problem of climate change in the state.

In an address, the Emir of Daura expressed gratitude to the state government in collaboration with Ahmed Usman pure life foundation for the choice of Daura for the tree planting exercise.

The Emir who acknowledged the importance of tree planting in preventing desert encroachment encouraged people of the emirate to plant more tree and nurse them to maturity.

On his part, the state Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Hamza Sule Faskari, represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Kado said that the ministry has raised over three hundred thousand tree seedlings and distributed across the state.

According to him, the ministry would maintain close supervision to ensure at least eighty percent of the planted trees reach maturity .

In another development, Governor Dikko Radda has attended the turbaning of two eminent son and daughter of Daura Emirate, performed by the Emir, Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq.

They are, Dr. Buhari Sani Buhari who was turbaned as Walin Daura and Hajia Jamila Abdulmajid Buhari as Magajiyar Zangon Daura.

The turbaning ceremony which took place at the palace of the Emir, attracted the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Yahya Daura, alongside some legislative members and a one time Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, General Aliyu Gusau, members of the families as well as other well wishers from within and outside the kingdom.

In an address after turbaning the two personalities, the Emir of Daura Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar said their turbaning was a reciprocal to the hospitality and care he enjoyed from their ancestors ..

He urged them to be more devoted in serving the masses as done by their late fathers.

The Emir also appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to secrifice part of their wealth in assisting the needy as a step to have ALLAH’s mercy on the current socio -economic predicaments.

Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq said it’s a great loss for a well to do Muslim to enter the hell fire for his failure to use his wealth for sake of Allah.

In a related development, Governor Radda has paid a condolence visit to the family of Barden Daura over the demise of a member of the family Alhaji Ali Adamu popularly known Alin Barde.

The Governor prayed Almighty ALLAH to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Fifty five-year old Alin Barde died at hospital and left behind one wife three children and an elder brother Barden Daura Alhaji Abdulhadi Adamu.
