Former President and Vice Presidents, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Alhaji Namadi Sambo and Professor Yemi Osinbajo were in Katsina to condole Yar’adua’s family over the death of the mother of the former President, late Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Hajiya Dada Musa Yar’adua who died on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the age of 102.
However, Babagana Zulum of Borno state was also in the state on a solemn mission.
Former President, Chief Obasanjo described Late Hajiya Dada Yar’adua as a “Caring Mother.”
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda welcomed the dignitaries on arrival at Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport respectively.
Governor Radda, accompanied by Murtala Shehu Yar’adua, grandson of the deceased and former Minister of State for Defense, as well as Inuwa Baba, former Chief of Protocol to President Obasanjo, received the distinguished visitor at the airport. The delegation promptly proceeded to the Yar’adua family residence.
At the family home, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, representing Katsina Zone, welcomed the former president and the Governor. they were joined by renowned business tycoon Dahiru Barau Mangal.
During the visit, Chief Obasanjo fondly remembered Hajiya Dada Yar’adua as a caring mother, praising her hospitality and kindness.
Chief Obasanjo offered prayers for the departed soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings.
The former president also reflected on his long-standing relationship with the Yar’adua family, emphasizing the lasting impact of Hajiya Dada’s warmth and generosity.
Governor Radda expressed his gratitude to former President Obasanjo for his visit, stating, “We are deeply touched by Your Excellency’s gesture of solidarity during this time of mourning. It reflects the unity and compassion that bind us as a nation, transcending political affiliations.”
The visit reflects the respect and esteem in which the Yar’adua family is held across Nigeria’s political spectrum and highlights the enduring bonds of leadership in the country.
The continuous visit by crème de la crème, serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy of the Yar’adua family and the bonds that connect Nigeria’s leaders in times of national mourning.
