The Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Kaduna State Chapter, has condemned, rejected and dissociated itself in totality from the Jonathan Asake and Luka Binniyat’s faction that was elected on July 13, 2024.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna by Major Gambo Bobai (rtd), Comrade Chance Cletus and Comrade Monday Adukwu, Chairman, Secretary General and Publicity Secretary respectively, said, “The Middle Belt Forum Executive (EXCO) led by Major Gambo Bobai (rtd) is the genuine and acceptable forum in Kaduna State.”
The statement added, “Our executive (EXCO) remain committed to the true spirit of the Middle Belt Struggles.”
It stressed that it has written to the National President, Dr. Bitrus Povu and copied Elders Council/BOT members, National and the traditional leaders on the plan by Jonathan Asake, Barr. Mark Jacob, Enmanuel Alamu and John Haruna trying to hijack the forum for their future political ambition especially 2027.
The statement called on the ethnic nationalities of the region in the state, Nigeria and the whole world to reject and dissociate themselves from any activities of the Jonathan Asake, Barr. Mark Jacob, Emmanuel Alamu and John Haruna “political group”.
According to the statement, the faction lacks due process, integrity and is politically motivated against the what it called “genuine spirit” of the Middle Belt Forum’s struggle.
It said, “The Middle Belt Forum Kaduna State chapter Executive tenure has not elapse until December 31, 2025.
“Their election did not capture the spread of the ethnic nationalities, tribes and local government areas in the state, our patrons, the chairman of the Middle Belt Forum, elders council of National reside in Kaduna, a Board of Trustee member that reside in Kaduna and traditional rulers of the Middle Belt in Kaduna state where not informed.”
It lamented that no official notice/document from the National President to dissolve the MBF Kaduna state chapter or to conduct an election in Kaduna chapter.
According to the statement, in their rush arrangement, they elected an lgbo lady by name Chinenye as the Assistant women leader, saying that the lady made her findings and realized that she is not from any of the Middle Belt region state, and she quickly declined and withdrew from the position as the lady in question is the present Assistant Secretary of the Labour Party in Kaduna State.
