Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has set up a high powered committee under Head of Civil Service of the state, Alhaji Falalu Bawale to investigate the circumstances that caused fire outbreak in a part of the Governor’s office at General Muhammadu Buhari (Government) House.
The inferno according to a statement by Director Press office of the Secretary to the state government, Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua which occurred on Monday, September 2, 2024 has damaged the Mini Chamber attached to the Governor’s office.
Fire fighters from both Federal and State were able to control the fire before it was escalated to other parts of Governor Radda’s office.
Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua said the source of the fire was yet to be ascertained but the Committee was tasked with the following terms of reference to find out the cause of the fire outbreak, extent of the damage caused by the inferno, identify lapses (if) any that led to the incident and recommend ways to avert future occurrence as well as give any other recommendation that was essential in the circumstances.
“The committee was given the mandate to co-opt any person (s) that could help in discharging its assignment and to submit within a report week,” Malam Yar’adua emphasized.
The committee he said, was composed of the following members:-Head of Civil Service of the State; Honorable Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport; Honorable Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Honorable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs and Honorable Commissioner for Information and Culture.
Others include, Permanent Secretary I, Government House; State Commander, Federal Fire Service and Governor’s Office would provide the secretary of the Committee.
Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua said the governor has expressed confidence on the committee’s ability to thoroughly investigate the incident and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
