1,979 Corps Members Begin NYSC Service Year In Kaduna

No less than 1,979 (comprising of 1,562 for Kaduna State and 417 for the FCT) 2024 batch ‘B’ (stream II) members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Friday, were officially sworn in for the one year mandatory service in Kaduna State.

Speaking to the corps members and other stakeholders at the swearing in ceremony of the batch’s orientation course at NYSC temporary orientation camp inside Government College, Kaduna, Coordinator of the scheme in the State, Hassan Mahmud Taura, urged the participating corps members to embrace the core value of the scheme which include discipline, integrity, selflessness and patriotism.

He encouraged them to pay serious attention to all the camp activities especially the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) designed to enable corps members self-reliant.

“I urge you to actively take part in all camp activities that are carefully designed to equip you with the needed skills that will positively impact your lives during the service year.

“Accept every challenge and ensure your service year becomes a period of learning, personal growth and contribution to nation building”, the coordinator said.

Declaring the orientation camp open, the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, promised the corps members of their safety in the state.

Represented by the overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, he urged the corps members to embark on the three weeks orientation course with a focus on becoming ambassadors of peace, national unity and progress.

“This one year of national service is a crucial phase, where you are expected to contribute selflessly to the development of our country.

“I encourage you to take all the orientation course activities seriously, especially the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) which is designed to equip you with skills and prepare you for economic self-reliance,” he said.

He however, reassured of his administration’s continuous support to the NYSC Scheme towards achieving its core mandate in Kaduna State.

“The security and welfare of Corps members remain a top priority of my administration.

“While I look forward to receiving a positive report of your orientation course from the State Coordinator, I wish you a successful orientation exercise”, he said.
