We are Ensuring All Kaduna Children Enrol In Schools, Deputy Governor Tells Visiting Reps Members

Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe on Thursday, said that the state government is ensuring that every child enrols in school which is free education.

She expressed this when she received the members of the House Committee on TETFund and other services on a working visit to Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.

Speaking at the Council Chamber, she said education in Kaduna State is free from primary to secondary school.

“The state government has made education free to enable the vulnerable children to enrol in schools,” she said.

Dr. Hadiza commended the leadership of Member House of Representatives from Imo State, Honourable Miriam Odinaka Onuoha who is a woman for her courage to head the committee and as well as all the members for taking their time to come to Kaduna State.

Expressing that, “our policy in Kaduna is to give free education from primary school to secondary as we are striving to get certain standard.”

She said, “TETfund intervention is very crucial, I am glad that we will have interaction linking from all states in what is to be done within this institutions”.

She wished them a fruitful deliberations in the areas of their assignment.

In a remark, the leader of delegation on TetFund, a member of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from Okigwe North federal Constituency, Imo State, Honourable Miriam Odinaka Onuoha said, “we are on a working visit to the Kaduna State in regards to its own state tertiary institutions as well as the federal institutions domiciled in Kaduna State”.

She praised President Bola Tinubu for acknowledgement of TETfund as well as Kaduna State for being an advocate for making education one of the state’s priorities.

She explained that three major tertiary institutions, Kaduna State University, Nuhu Bamaili Polytechnic Zaria and College of Education Gidan Waya are to benefit from the funds disbursed.

The committee charged the state owned tertiary institutions to ensure that they make their contributions and work with TETFund committee.

“The committee is creating awareness on the need for tertiary institutions to be prompt and active in accessing the allocated Tertiary Intervention Funds allocated to them.

“The Committee is not unaware of the ambiguity occasioned with the requirements for accessing the TETFund Intervention but we have come to wake up and create a reawakening in the consciousness of the Heads of Tertiary Institutions, that amidst the need to improve on the amount of the quality and quantity of intervention, there also is the responsibility to access that which has been allocated to them with promptness and dispatch.

“I want to use this opportunity, myself and other members of the committee, to appreciate the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajjudeen Abbas PhD, the Emir of Zazzau who is also a son of the soil in Kaduna State, he brings his warm greetings and also extends his appreciation to the government and people of Kaduna State.

“We also want to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for continuing to improve on the TET Intervention,” she said.

She said that they have visited the six geopolitical zones of the country on the need to increase the funding for intervention to increase or bridge the infrastructure gap within the tertiary institutions and improve on the quality of teaching and learning.

She revealed that from a tour of all the states, the tertiary institutions visited, about 80 per cent structures are on the account of TETFund Intervention.

“We say, well done, Mr President, well done to His Excellency, the Governor of Kaduna State and well done to the people and members of the TETFund National Assembly who are here with us. We also want to appreciate the people of Kaduna State, for not allowing the protest to overtake the good intentions of the government the state,” she said.
