Victims of the fire accident that gutted several shops, a clinic and offices in Jalingo Taraba State last night have urged Governor Darius Ishaku to come to their aid.
The fire outbreak which started around 6:30 PM at Magami junction, along Hamaruwa way at the city centre gutted most of the wares in the shops.
Speaking to New Nigerian Tuesday morning, some of the the victims said that the fire completely destroyed all their wares and now have no other means of livelihood.
One of the victims Mrs. Faustina Nwakama, the owner of Emmet Ladies Wears stated that her shops was razed to ashes .
“This is my life’s work and struggle that you are seen there in ashes. I can’t believe this is not a dream. If the governor does not come to our rescue, then we are finished”, tearful Nwakama said.
Another victim Aliyu Yahuza of Amira Technology Ltd said that he watched helplessly as his means of livelihood was turned to ashes.
He said he lost millions of Naira in the incident adding that it was difficult to come to term with what had happened.
Alhaji Musa Babalau also owner of a razed shop blamed the State fire service for not responding to distress call made to them.
He said if the fire service had responded quickly, the extent of the damage would have been less and called on Governor Darius to come to the aid of the victims.
