Humanitarian Crisis; Stakeholders Commends NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) has been commended for the magnificent humanitarian services been rendering nationwide.
Senator Abdulazeez Nyako, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties gave the commendation Thursday when he led members of the committee for oversight visit to Internally Displaced Persons camp in Damare, Yola, Adamawa.
According to him, the committee had visited various camps in Borno and Adamawa and it was satisfied and convinced on the way and manner the agency was managing the camps and taking care of the IDPs properly.
“From the appearance of the IDPs and the cleanness of the camps environments the committee is convinced and satisfied with the services of NEMA, we are going to support NEMA to lead and control all the activities of humanitarian organizations in the country” Abdulazeez stated.
He confirmed that the only problem uncovered during the visit was shortage of water supply in some camps adding that the committee would invite the Minister of water resources for explanation.
Earlier speaking, Mr Sa’ad Bello, the the agency’s operational
coordinator in charge of Adamawa and Taraba said that the number of the IDPS had significantly dropped from over 60,0000 to l8,958 persons only.
So far over 900 Internally Displaced Children enrolled into the school in various camps in the state.
Among the committee entourage include Senator Kabiru Gaya and Alhaji Sani Sidi, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency.
