Edu Guber; Corps Members advicate peaceful polls

Corps Members serving in Edo State, under the aegis of Servicom Community Development Service Group, Oredo Zone, have called on the people of the state to embrace peace and vote wisely in the September 10 governorship election.
The Corps Members made he call during their sensitization campaign rally at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Benin City.
They stated that the rally became paramount for them to take the message of peaceful election to the streets of Benin because election is all about the people and for those that are living and not the dead.
Leader of the group, Mr. Moses Akinteye said violence does not yield positive results but problems, stressing that election must be approached peacefully.
They stated that the people must vote wisely in the election as the people get the kind of leadership they deserve.
“Voting is your right, exercise your civic responsibility as a good citizen. Vote wisely, do not sell your vote, say no to election violence and your vote is your voice and your choice”, he said.
Responding, Secretary to the NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Alemma Aliu Oziuruwa, commended the Corp Members for embarking on the sensitization campaign against election violence, describing it as the first of its kind in the state.
He however charged them to be peaceful in their messages and should not allow criminals and politicians hijack the process.
