A 90 year old man, Pa Ajagunna Adalumo was on Wednesday night kidnapped in his house at Oke-Ijebu, Ikole-Ekiti in Ikole local Government area of Ekiti state.
The victim is the father of an hotelier, Oluwole Adalumo who owns SMJ Hotel in Ikole-Ekiti.
An eyewitness, Bimbo Ajayi, who is also a relative of the victim, told our correspondent in Ikole on Thursday morning that the abductors came into the premises of the aged man around 8.00 pm.
A man according to Ajayi, came down from a car parked in front of the house and approached the innocent man in his sitting room under the guise that the victim’s son–hotelier, sent him to the old man.
“When the abductor came out of the house alongside the old man, two other men from the car dragged Baba into their car and drove away before people could suspect their mission.
“We raised alarm to prevent the abduction of Baba but they have left and we were unable to trace the vehicle” she narrated.
Speaking on the abduction, Mr. Festus Kolade, one of the youths in the area, said that the matter was immediately reported at the Police station while the search for the whereabout of the old man begun.
Kolade who claimed to be a family member of the victim said the abductors were yet to make contact with any of the family members.
However, relatives and friends of the victim were seen in groups in front of his house at Oke-ijebu on Thursday morning discussing the incident and wondered what would have prompted the hoodlums to abduct the aged.
A Police officer at Divisional Police Station in Ikole, who pleaded not to be named, confirmed the incident but said he could not give details on the matter until investigation is completed.
He assured that the old man would be located and he will regain freedom from his abductors.
