The Police has arraigned a security guard, a commercial motorcyclist and one other suspect before a Magistrate’s Court Chediya, GRA Zaria over allegedly impregnating a minor.
Insp. Manir Nasir, the prosecutor, told the court that the suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy and having canal knowledge of a minor contrary to Section 368 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State 2017.
He said the suspects are, Bello Hamisu (65), a security guard of an undisclosed filling station, Tukur Aliyu (52) a commercial motorcyclist and Aminu Umar (60) a farmer, all of Tsibiri village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) by the prosecution counsel, Insp. Nasir, ” on September 13, one Alhaji Nura Yusuf of Tsibiri Village reported the matter before the Divisional Police Office in Giwa Local Government Area.
“Yusuf, the guardian of the victim, said, she became pregnant on August 1, upon interrogation she mentioned the names of the suspects as the only persons who had affairs with her,” the FIR said.
After reading the FIR, all the suspects admitted committing the offence and the prosecutor applied for their detention at the correctional facility because the offence committed is not bailable.
The presiding Magistrate, Judge, Dorcas Kitchner adjourned the matter to October 17 for summary trial and ordered the suspects to be remanded at Zaria Correctional Center.
