6 died, 21 injured in Ibadan autocrash

Tragedy struck on Sunday at Kilometre 15, quarry area, Ibadan-Lagos expressway when six people met their untimely death with twenty one others sustaining various degree of injuries during an autocrash.
New Nigerian gathered  that three Lagos bound vehicles; two Mazda buses marked EKY 59 XR, AME 384 XA; and one Mercedes Benz Jeep marked EKY 111 BL were involved in the auto crash with one of the vehicles said to be a 18-seater Lagos bound commercial bus fully loaded with passengers.
It was learnt that the bodies of some of the victims of the autocrash were severely mutilated while the three vehicles involved were badly damaged.
Confirming the auto crash which reportedly occurred about 5.36pm, the Public Relations officer of Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Tunji Onijala said the accident involved three vehicles.
While blaming the accident on route violation arising from dangerous overtaking, Mr Onijala said the 21 injured victims were taken to Ibadan Central Hospital for treatment while the corpses of the six dead persons have been deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital mortuary Ibadan.
Officers of FRSC on the ground controlled the high traffic on the highway to ensure road diversion while enable rescue operators worked on the victims and clear the road of the affected vehicles.
