360 Schools for Lagos Principal’s Cup

Organisers of the annual Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) Lagos Principal’s Cup has announced that a total of 360 schools have registered to be part of the preliminaries of the season 7 of the championship expected to kick off from Febuary1-14 in all the zones in Lagos State.
Tolu Onipede of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department of GTB told New Nigerian Sports that the competition which will involve both male and female players will kick off with the zonal play-offs after which the zonal champions will meet at the state level to determine the eventual winner of the oldest secondary school football competition in Lagos State.
 
According to her, this year’s edition will witness a lot of innovations which includes scholarship awards for talented players discovered in all stages of the championship.
“We have put all logistics in place to ensure we have a successful championship. At the end of the preliminary matches which will be played in all the zones in the state, a draw will be organized on February 18 for qualified teams that will play in the state final.
“This year’s edition will also be different from previous editions because we have introduced scholarship award to players with exceptional talents who will be identified by scouts throughout the duration of the competition.
Senior Special Adviser on Sports to Lagos State Governor and Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu while commending the title sponsors for its consistency in sponsoring the competition, promised that Lagos State Government will give all the necessary support to the tournament because it has over the years produced talents for the country.
