In another failed attempt to retake Izige town from the military, Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly killed three soldiers and two vigilante members.
A vigilante member who did not want his name published because he was not authorised to speak, said the insurgents were forced to flee after losing many fighters in the encounter.
“They engaged the military for hours, killing three Soldiers and two vigilante members  before they were finally over powered and fled through the connecting bush but they removed some corpses of their fighters”, he stated.
‎Some of the fleeing residents interviewed said they could not confirm the number of casualties as they could not return to the village to assess the extent of damage.
Meanwhile, reports from Limankara and Bitiku indicated that the militants attacked the villages at the weekend killing two civilians.
When contacted, the Army Public Relations Officer at the 28 Special Task Force Battalion in Mubi, Captain Bakare said he needed time to gather details before he could talk to journalists.
