Violence in Kaduna Communities of Godogodo and Sanga Districts, both in Jema’a and Sanga Local Governments Areas, (LGAs), in the Southern part of the state has continued even after Governor Nasir El-Rufai visit to the areas recently to appraise situation of killings and burning down of some villages.
The governor, who was in some of the affected villages of Gada Biyu, Anjo and Godogodo in Jema’a LGA and in Unguwan Mada, in Sanga LGA, last Tuesday, condemned the killings and promise to improve security and bring the culprits to Justice.
El-Rufai also held the weekly State Security Council meeting in Kafanchan, the commercial hub of Southern Kaduna, assuring of putting an end to the killings.
According to the recent report of killings in the area, a Pastor with the Redeem Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Luka Ubangari, was killed at Unguwan Anjo, near Godogodo, a village which was earlier burnt by suspected armed herdsmen last week, village sources said.
Two days after the murder of Ubangari, alleged armed herdsmen, attacked Ningon village, 6km from Gwantu, headquarters of Sanga LGA, leaving two death and one critically injured.
A man who spoke on the Anjo killing and pleaded that his name not be mentioned for the sake of his security said: “we were happy that the Governor (Nasir El-Rufai) had visited and assured us of improved security and that the killiers would be found and punished.
“To our shock, Pastor Luka Ubangari was ambushed, shot and killed as he was riding his motorcycle after an evangelical visit to Golkofa. He was killed by Fulani men who are out to remove us from our ancestral lands,” he said.
On the killings in Ningon, Mr. Nuhu Tukura, the President of Ningon community Development Association, NCDA, said, “at 8:45pm Sunday night, Mr. Gambo Sule, 38, married with 5 children and Mr. Benjamin Auta, 35, also married with 2 children were killed by unknown herdsmen.
“We are seriously troubled by all these happenings. Now we don’t even know what we can do to have rest. Our farms, we cannot go and our houses we cannot live in. What else shall we do?
“We called the police immediately the incident occurred around 8:45pm last Sunday night, but they could not come until around 7:30am this (Monday) morning.
“We have done the burial today (Monday) because the immediate family members said they cannot afford the bill of keeping the corpses at the mortuary because of the financial situation.
“We’re pleading with the state government to help in securing us and to provide us with assistance to feed. Most farmers are afraid to go to farm and there will be food problems this year and the next”, he said.
Ningon was attacked in 2014 and the entire community razed with scores left death after an invasion by alleged armed herdsmen.
