3 feared killed in Ibadan area boys clash

No fewer than 3 people were feared killed with many others sustaining injuries during a bloody clash between some area boys within Oja’oba area of  Ibadan.
It was gathered that the bloody clash which started on Monday night continued till the early hours of Wednesday during which the warring factions of the area boys held the residents in their battle ground to ransom.
Though the Oyo State Police Command said only one person died, eye witness account stated that no fewer than 3 people were feared killed  in the bloody clash.
The bloody clash was said to have reared its head on Monday and resurfaced on Tuesday evening when one of the groups identified as ‘Idowu boys’ embarked on retaliation and assault which led to the death of one of its group members by the unnamed group.
Sources said this resulted to laying of ambush by the warring  groups with the help of another group named “Zaccheus Boys” around Gege Adero, Ibadan within the area with boys freely using broken bottle, and by Wednesday morning degenerating into using sophisticated weapons by the warring sides.
Residents of the affected areas were said to be scampering for safety early Wednesday when the warring area boys were chasing each other into the inner compound before men of the state Police command and other security agencies were drafted into the areas to maintain peace.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu while confirming the bloody clash however said only one person died, saying,
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered 24 hour security surveilance of the affected areas with a view to protecting lives and property. Some arrests have been made. Normalcy has returned as the Police warn against acts causing breach of public peace‎”
