Day Old baby dumped in an uncompleted building in Ondo

Residents of Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government area of the state,  at the early hour of Saturday trooped out in a large numbers to Idimu-Alo street in the community, to catch a glimpse of  a baby boy, believed to be day-old that was dumped by yet unidentified person in an abandoned, uncompleted building in the area.
It was reliably gathered that the baby boy whose placenta was still intact, was discovered in the two storey building by a woman believed to be a resident of the street at about 6:30.
It was further learnt that a woman said to be a hawker who was said to be passing along the street heard the cry of the baby, raised an alarm that attracted other residents of the area to the scene.
When our correspondent arrived at the scene of the incident, there were large numbers of people who milled around the mud house where the little baby was laid on a bare sack.
However, Police officers from the Enuowa Divisional Police Station, arrived at the scene of the incident, andlater joined by several empathizers who later took the baby to a nearby private hospital in the area for medical attention.
Speaking with our Correspondent, a man who claimed to be resident of the street, said he got the report of the incident through an alarm that was raised by the woman who he said was the first person to discover the baby inside the house.
He further stated that as soon as he arrived at the scene of the event which was located few meters from his house, he immediately went to the Enuowa Divisional Police Station to report the incident, adding that as soon as the report was made, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station , Mr Kunle Omisakin,  a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) sent a team of police officers to visit the scene of the incident.
Corroborating, the statement, the DPO, confirmed the report of the incident and described it as unfortunate. He added that the baby has been taken to a motherless baby home in the community.
