250 Taekwondo Players to participate in Korean Ambassador Championship

Over 250 taekwondo players drawn from across the country are expected to participate at the forthcoming 6th Korean Ambassador’s Championship holding from December 10 -12, 2015, at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Grand Master George Ashiru told journalists that scores of Nigerian taekwondo players have since indicated their willingness to feature at this year’s edition of the annual Korean Ambassador’s Cup West Africa Taekwondo Championship which is a big boost.
Ashiru who also doubles as Common Wealth Taekwondo Union Vice President revealed that dozens of states have called pleading to be allowed to register their full team for the tournament and that has since been approved, adding that both the armed forces including the Nigerian Police and other Para-military Forces will participate in accordance with the on-going registration exercise.
He also revealed that a 16-man Joint Taekwondo special team from the Nigeria police and the Nigeria Black Belt College will provide two high performance demonstration at the event on December 12, 2015 while the Korean Government will use the opportunity provided to present the achievement awards to some individuals associated with the growth and promotion of sports in Nigeria with particular emphasis on Taekwondo.
Meanwhile, World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has donated the latest electronic kits to the Nigerian Taekwondo Federation (NTF) as part of their effort to further develop the game  in Nigeria.
President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation and Vice President of the Commonwealth Taekwondo Union, Grand Master George Ashiru who disclosed this in Lagos said the items donated by the world body are similar to those that would be used for the Taekwondo events of the RIO 2016 Olympic Games.
Valued at $10,000, the items which were accompanied by a letter signed by the Director General of the World Taekwondo Federation Dr. Jin Bang Yang includes  92 mats,  8 Octagonal mats, 8 E- Head Gears, 4 E- Head Gear Transmitter, 8 E-Trunk protector, 4 E-Trunk Protector Transmitter,  2 charger, 1 soft ware and 3 wireless Judge Joysticks.
