24 Yr Old Boy Arraigns In Court For Stealing N227,945 From Gov Ajimobi’s Wife Shop

A 24-year-old sales boy, Afeez Ajibola was on Tuesday arraigned by the Police before an Oyo state Senior Magistrates Court sitting in Ibadan for allegedly disappearing with N227,945.00 sales money from a shop owned by the wife of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Chief Mrs Florence  Ajimobi.
The 24 year old Afeez Ajibola of 22 Oke-Bola, Ogunpa Road, Ibadan, was arraigned on a two-count bordering on stealing, the offence contravened section 390 (6) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol.II Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The sales boy pleaded not guilty to the two counts when read to him in court.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Kola Olaiya,the sales boy committed the offence on November 25, this year at about 9 a.m. at Grandex Stores, Palm Màll, Ring road, Ibadan by allegedly stealing the sum of N227,945.
The Police prosecutor alleged further that the sales boy also stole one black wallet valued at N3,000 and one key ring holder valued N2, 500 at the shop on same day all valued N233,445 from Grandex Stores
Cpl Olaiya told the court that on that day,the shop’s Supervisor Mrs Adetoun Adigun asked the sales boy to pay the sum of N227,945 to the stores account being sales money of the previous day, November 24.as she used to do on daily basis.
He stressed that the Supervisor on sighting the sales boy later did not remember to ask Ajibola for the teller and that two days after that, the sales boy was nowhere to be found as he failed to show up for work.
The prosecutor stated that “on December 2, Grandex director, Mrs Ajimobi asked Adigun to bring all the tellers with her after discovering that November 25 teller was missing” and .Adigun called Ajibola on his cell phone to bring the money having suspected that the sales boy did not pay any money to the shop’s account.
Cpl Olaiya added that the Police later arrested the sales boy  searched his room, where a purse and keyholder were found, which he admitted taking from the shop.
Senior Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa-Babalola while adjourning the case till February 2 for hearing granted the sales boy bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum .
